Candy Shortage May Be a Halloween Trick

Hershey warns of a possible Halloween candy shortage as the company continues to face global supply chain challenges. The announcement was made during a global earnings call at the end of July, and the company stated it would not be able to fully meet projected Halloween consumer demand this year. Halloween candy production began in the spring, and Halloween candy makes up 10% of the Hershey’s annual sales. The company also faces cocoa shortages and challenges related to the pandemic and the war in Ukraine. Hershey is one of many companies balancing daily on-shelf availability with seasonal production.
